About the project

Preserving the Past with the Present, for the Future is a borough wide ‘living archive’ capturing the oral history and perspectives of today from Veterans, current reservists and their families, to make connections with the past to the present for the future.

Encouraging the recognition of the contributions made by the Armed Forces and their families from a local perspective is at the heart of this project, which aims to:

      • Create a recorded reminiscence of Armed Forces Personnel and their families past of present, through oral history and film
      • Establish an Archive of historical artefacts and ephemera
      • Create a touring exhibition, which will be added to year after year
      • Create a digital walking tour of the Boroughs war memorials

‘The project has been delivered through partnerships with Knowsley Council, Prescot Museum, 37 Signals Regiment and the local community. The legacy to the project will be its continual efforts to amass information and personal stories between 2014 and 2018, resulting in a unique a digital collection and hive of information for all to access.
